The Latest

{Posted in Baby Name Art, Books, Events ~ Wednesday, April 4th, 2012}

Oh what a flurry the studio is these days! I’m on the verge of finishing a new book, Polly Has Patience using a slightly different style than my previous books. I’m very excited about it! Along with that book project, i’ve been working on some original illustrations, including this gem for a previous client’s newest baby, Jack. Isn’t this great?

Even more exciting news has developed in the past month: I haven’t just been working in two dimensions! I announced my newest venture on my other blog last week: mini-felted sculptures. I’ve been focusing on corgis lately, because corgis are worth focusing on, but more fuzzy critters will be found both at my other blog, Pocket Pause and my Etsy shop soon. In the meantime, here are some of the cuties coming i’ve been working on lately. One of them is headed to France today!

On top of all this in-studio action, i’m also excited for an upcoming book reading of Bedtime Snackit at the local Grassroots Bookstore in Corvallis next Sunday at 11:30. Hint: there are going to be free coloring sheets and some ‘real life’ snackits present, so you really don’t want to miss it. :)

Pet Portraits for Editor’s Choice!

{Posted in Donations, Giveaway ~ Monday, October 17th, 2011}

I have exciting news! The Daily Corgi (one of my very favorite blogs) is hosting their annual Halloween costume contest and I’m proud to be offering the Editor’s Choice prize this year!

The Daily Corgi is a place for all things corgi, from Pembroke to Cardigan, mixes and more. Our pup, Pocket entered the costume contest last year: she went as a chicken, which she already thought she was. I made the costume for her and she loved wearing it as much as we loved looking at her in it. She didn’t win the contest, but we’re not sore losers at all. I’m offering a 5×7 custom pet portrait for the lucky winner (and his/her human). Choose from a finished illustration style, or a more whimsical and sketchy style. The prize can also be used to apply towards a more expensive purchase (such as an 8×10 or 11×14). Below are illustrations 1. of my horse, Misty and dog, Amber: both deceased and 2. our little Pocket pup.

Choose from a tight, outlined style

Or choose a more sketchy and whimsical style

I’m also proud to announce that I’ll be donating $5 to benefit Corgi Aid from every purchased referred from the Daily Corgi until the end of the year. So check out the blog, enter your furry friend and I hope you’re the winner! If not, be sure and get that promo code to use for your next purchase and help out some corgis in need. Get on over there and check it out! (Even if you don’t have a corgi to dress up, it’s worth checking it out)

Activity Abounds!

{Posted in Baby Name Art, Books, Site ~ Wednesday, February 9th, 2011}

Things have been pretty crazy in this here studio lately. I’ve been really vamping up my soap making business: Nude Soap! It’s pretty awesome, smells great, and is getting more legit every day. I’m still working on brainstorming more ecommerce and marketing strategies, but the recipes have been honed and i’m super clean :)

Focusing on that business tends to distract me from this one, however. So i’ll be focusing on some new projects at the drafting table soon. I’m excited to announce pet portraits and MURALS to be added to my repertoire very soon. As always, i’ll provide original artwork at budget prices to liven up the lives of my clients and their children (or pets!).

In other exciting news: Snackit Adventures: Bedtime Snackit is just about finished! I have the proofs and they look great, so watch Amazon.com for the arrival of a super fun book about bedtime snacks and and the critters who thieve them. I’ll be posting interior illustrations here soon as well, so come on back and check it out!

Her mama wanted to give something special to Ella’s GG as well, so I made this 5×7 portrait of sorts of the two together for them to remember each other by.

I’m very happy to announce that Marigold is hosting a Giveaway a Day week, October 18-22 on Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky!

I pair up your kiddos’ names with matching animals, favorite things, or just make a super cool poster featuring your very own kids like i did for Marigold’s Huck and Milo. I hear tell the image has inspired them to leap from their bunks off imaginary trapezes – this may or may not be a good thing/ compliment. Illustrations are all original pieces of art, entirely customized for you and your children. The gift certificate may also be used as a gift and will be valid for up to one year.
